Other types of studies are defined in an order established by the educational standard of the academy.

Lecture is the main type of educational training for specialists of full-time department. This is logically finished, scientifically reasonable and systematized statement of a certain scientific or scientific and methodical question illustrated by means of presentation and demonstration of experiments.

Lecture forms the main knowledge in a certain scientific area, defines the direction, the contents and character of all other types of studies and independent work of students on a subject matter.

Lecture streams are formed of students of a certain course of one training direction, specialty or different specialties of one educational and qualifying level. Lectures are conducted by professors, assistant professors, the senior teachers of the academy, and also leading scientists or the specialists invited for lecturing.

Laboratory research is a type of training where students under the control of the teacher make natural or imitating experiments in specially equipped educational laboratories with use of the equipment adapted for conditions of educational process.

The purpose of laboratory research is practical confirmation of separate theoretical provisions of this subject matter, acquisition of practical abilities of work with laboratory equipment, computer facilities, measuring equipment, a technique of pilot studies in concrete subject domain.

Stages of carrying out laboratory research: instructing in safety rules and control of their observance, preliminary control of preparation level of students to performance of concrete laboratory work, performance of concrete tasks according to subject, registration of the individual report, estimation of students’ work by the teacher.

Laboratory research is carried out as a part of the academic group with division into subgroups.

Consultations are conducted throughout a semester and before control action (examination).

Credit-modular system

UEPA has credit-modular system of training whencontentof each subject matter is divided into 2-3 substantial modules in a semester.

The substantial module is the separate section or subsection of discipline and includes different types of auditorium and independent work of students. Each substantial module should be assessed, and the student is informedaboutresults of assessment of each substantial module.

Each chair develops the semestrial plan schedule of independent work and points-scale of assessment of students’ educational achievements on all teaching disciplines. Types of students’ works are given in this plan schedule on a certain discipline, terms of their performance and quantity of points by which these types of works are assessed.

The plans schedules developed by chairs on a discipline are spread among students and pasted intothe register of the academic groups.

The scale of ECTS assessment which represents additional information concerning students’ work is introduced in UEPA along with a national four-points scale of assessment of educational achievements of students (excellent", well", satisfactorily", unsatisfactory"), without replacement of the general assessment.

According to this scale the maximum quantity of points which the student can receive for discipline studying, is equal to 100 points.

For disciplines than include examination or the differentiated test, the maximum quantity of points which a student can get for all modules throughout a semester makes 70 points. Carrying out total control (the examination, the differentiated test) is obligatory and the maximum quantity of points which the student can get makes 30 points.

Students who performed all works provided by the curriculum (laboratory, settlement and graphic, yearly projects, etc.), and got for the discipline totally for all modules 35 and more points are allowed to take total control. If a student misses any kind of intermediate or total control, it is assessed by a zero point.

The points received at examination or differentiated test, are added to the points received by the accumulative way on current controls, and the total grade is given on the basis of the following scale:

ECTS scale Points Grade according to the national scale
А 90-100 5 (excellent)
В 82-89 4 (good)
С 74-81
D 64-73 3 (satisfactory)
E 60-63
FX 35-59 2 (unsatisfactory) with the right to take exam or test again
F 1-34 2 (unsatisfactory) with obligatory repeated course

If a student by results of the current control gathered 60-70 points and missedtotal control, in the examination sheet the total assessment is exposed as «Е» – «satisfactory».

On disciplines that providetest, the maximum quantity of points which a student can get for all modules throughout a semester, makes 10 points. On these disciplines it is authorized to expose test certification according to the results of the current control based on100-mark scale. A student receives "test"on a national scale if the semestrial total result isn't lower than 60 points.

Assesment of academic year projects (works) and practical trainings is carried out separately in a typical form of test and examination sheets. The current control (70 points) is carried out according to separate sections or stages, and total control (30 points) – by results of defence of academic year projects (works) or reports on practical training.

Sheets with the current results of students training’ success aregivento teachers on all types of training and controls also  they are available to students (during breaks).

Possible problems and ways of their solving

Student wants to get higher mark of test according to ECTS scale Possibility of additional control on separate substantial modules of disciplines before the examination session
Student got FX mark Retaking an examination is organized in the terms established by Scientific Methodical Department. Chairs examine such students with the permission of the faculty dean's office. Retaking an examination is allowed no more than twice on each discipline: once – to the teacher, the second time – to the commission created by the dean of faculty.
